Metroid Headquarters Marathon
Metroid Headquarters, which is one of our affiliates, will be running a "Metroid Marathon" to raise donations for Child's Play. Child's Play is a charity organization that helps children that are in hospitals or otherwise unable to have a normal childhood. The charity's website is located at http://www.childsplaycharity.org/, for those who are interested in more information.

As for the marathon itself, it will take place over multiple days. Staff members of Metroid Headquarters will play and livestream every single game of the Metroid series, from start to finish. The theme of this year's marathon is speed running, which stands in comparison to last year's 100% item collection (and mandatory hard mode.) Nonetheless, it will certainly be worth watching.

And did I mention that I'm a staff member of MHQ?

Of course, along with raising funds for Child's Play, the event marks the 8th year anniversary of Metroid Headquarters as a website. It's a great achievement, and one that not many websites see.

On an unrelated note, I've updated the website layout to fix an annoying problem with IE 7, along with making some other tweaks here and there. The sidebar is now able to have an unlimited height, which I'll use to fill with various things (such as the MHQthon banner you see there now.)

Site Update
I've made some changes to the site, notably pushing the twitter feed to a new sidebar to the right, which also contains an articles feed. The release of Demo 2 got me to thinking about everything that has essentially led to the success of Metroid Remix, and I've written a retrospective looking back at some of my developer history. I quite liked writing the article, so more may be coming in the future.

Demo 2 Released!
Demo 2 is now released! I'd like to first thank the many people who helped with the public beta testing, which sped up the debugging process tremendously. Seriously, you guys were great.

For those of you who hadn't tried the beta, the demo is now out on the site! Just click the demo 2 button in the menu bar to get more information. There are a ton of new things from the first demo, not the least of which is the fact that all of the items (minus all the suits) are in the game. There are also two completely finished areas, Norfair and Brinstar, part of Kraid, and a special area for the demo. There isn't an end boss, but you can finish the demo by going through the special area.

There are also achievements in the game and I've set up a user account system to show off your achievements online. This is entirely optional, of course, but you can register an account by going to Game Accounts under the About button on this page. Then, in the Metroid Remix demo, go to options and specify your login information. From there on, your achievements and playtime statistic will be updated every time you save! I will be expanding on this system in the coming future, at least on the website end.

Now, there are still a few minor quirks in the demo, but depending on their severity, I will be releasing patches for it in the future. If you find something, post on the forums!

That about wraps up this post, though I will probably be making a trailer-esque video in the coming days to show off some of the features that are in this release. Until then, try out the demo!

Final Rounds of Demo 2 Testing
The third and final round of testing for Demo 2 has officially begun! This testing period is on the release candidate, and is to uncover any major game affecting glitches in the demo. Smaller bugs and glitches will be patched after the demo release. So, if you haven't already signed up for the testing team, and want to take a peak at the demo before its public release, there's still time to register with the testing team.
